Secret White House deal with Big Pharma is bad for America

Posted By on August 11, 2009

This post is located at Salon.com.  Also, Robert Reich, an Obama supporter as well as having served in Clinton’s administration is appalled by a deal that the White House has made.

Through the month of August the Pharmaceutical companies will spend up to $150 million to try and persuade the American people that the Obama Health Care legislation is good for us.  Now this is more money than John McCain spend on his TV advertising for his entire Presidential campaign.  Folks, they aren’t spending the money for nothing…they EXPECT something in return…and they want it out of our wallets.

Reich writes “But when an industry gets secret concessions out of the White House in return for a promise to lend the industry’s support to a key piece of legislation, we’re in big trouble. That’s called extortion: An industry is using its capacity to threaten or prevent legislation as a means of altering that legislation for its own benefit. And it’s doing so at the highest reaches of our government, in the office of the President.” He ends his post by saying “We’re on a precarious road — and wherever it leads, it’s not toward democracy.”

Be sure to read the entire post.  It’s eye opening.
